Trending Patterns in 2026

  Every few years we are introduced to a new pattern that ends up being the craze for the next five years.  Most of us end up jumping on board and purchasing all the things.  Remember when we had buffalo plaid everything...  

    You can make the most of your decor by purchasing quality items in new patterns you love when the collections first come out.  If you purchase early in the trend, you can fully enjoy your decor for as long as possible before the trend fades.  If you wait until "everyone" has it, you will probably be purchasing your decor only a year or two before the trend fades. 

Here are the trending patterns of 2026:

Chinoiserie: This favorite pattern is the fasting growing pattern in home decor and making its way into clothing.  Chinoiserie or also known as toile is a pattern that first emerged in the 17th century and was designed based on Chinese and East Asian artistic style.  This time around it was introduced in a blue and white pattern, often floral or with traditional features.  Now, the pattern is expanding to pink and green patterns.  As the year goes on, we expect to see to see the pattern emerging in other colors.  

Harlequin: This pattern is a diamond pattern, mainly seen in black and white.  In home decor this is being seen in high end porcelain and resin decor.  From diamond patterned pumpkins to Alice in Wonderland themed bunnies, this pattern is showing up for every season.  The pattern is growing in colors and style often being seen in hot pink as well as seasonal colors.

Cabana Stripes: This pattern looks exactly like it sounds.  It is a wide striped pattern with one feature color and white.  Think blue and white striped beach chairs, towels, and awnings.  It is commonly seen in light pink and white on everything from clothing to accessories to popular ribbon.  In early 2026, we see this now coming in brighter colors such as orange and pink, and a new favorite pink and green.  This pattern definitely has a spring and summer feel.  We will see if they transform this pattern for fall and Christmas. 

Houndstooth: This pattern has shown up many times over the last century.  I remember it from my childhood and now I am seeing it again.  So far it is mainly seen in clothing and accessories.  While I haven't seen this trending pattern show up in home decor yet, I am looking for it to make an appearance before the year ends. 

Between all of these trending patterns, there is sure to be one for everyone.  If you find yourself leaning into one of these trends, go ahead and jump on trend while you can enjoy it for years!
